About RTTassist

RTTassist is a free MaxScript toolset shaped in a beautiful interface that automates the tedious process of texture baking.
It has a wide range of features, but most especially it is designed to give you better user experience!
Take a look at some of the main features:

*Explode all objects using an unique vector so there are no overlapping objects and there is enough space between them.
*Produce the best quallity, normal, Ambient Occlusion and other map types.
*Render using "Smart" , an algorithm that saves rendering time by processing less important objects more quickly.
*Render using the "Isolation" method - a more memory efficent way of rendering.
*Combine all rendered maps together in a single resulting map.
*Create a custom render presets for every case and share them with your collegues.
*Easy to use interface and "click-of-a-button" workflow.
*LiveLog - Instant visual feedback at every step.

Explode

Exploding objects is the easiest way to separate groups of objects and prevent one group from intervening with the other when rendered for example: when you don't want objects to occlude each other when rendering Ambient Occlusion maps). In RTTassist you can control the origin of explosion precisely, explode in incremental steps or let the script explode your objects automatically so far until no overlapping between them exist.

Render With "Smart"

Using "Smart" you can render complex models much quicker. "Smart" is a algorithm that processes less-important objects with quality settings that differ from the important objects. You can let the algorithm decide whether an object is important or not automatically, or set the object's status individually by hand. The automatic option is based on the area that each object takes on the texture.

Isolation Rendering And Batch

The "isolation" method of renderering processes the paired groups of objects one by one as the basic renderer does, with the only difference that it enters "isolation mode" for each group. The benefit of this is similar to the explode rendering - it prevents the individual groups from occluding each other when rendering Ambient Occlusion maps for instance.

Using the "Batch" feature you can render multiple 3dsmax scene files automatically. You only need to load the files you want to render, set the output path and click the "Render" button - the rest is handled by RTTassist.

Combine Maps

RTTasssist gives you the ability to render all maps and combine the result to a one single map which saves you time. By default 3dsmax RTT renders each object to an individual map which means that you need to combine them manually using Photoshop or another program. In RTTassist you can combine the maps automatically as they are rendering or you can use the "Combine Maps" dialog to combine already rendered maps.

Create Custom Presets

You can create custom presets for every need, from "draft" settings just for testing purposes, to "production" presets for you final render maps. You can share them with your colleagues this way unifying all renders across the studio and do much more.

Add Projection Modifiers

RTTassist can automatically apply a projection modifier to every low-poly object and will update the modifier's "Reference Geometry" list with its corresponding high-poly objects.
